Andrews Shines At AND1

A look at Chris Andrews, a speedy guard who had a big weekend at AND1

Chris Andrews isn't the most highly touted player from Seton Hall Prep, but the 5-10 floor general is often the linchpin for the Pirate attack.

While 6-8 teammate Brandon Costner garners most of the attention on Seton Hall Prep, it was Andrews' offense and play-making skills that boosted the Pirates to a 57-49 victory over St. Patrick at the AND 1 High School Basketball Championship East I Regional.

Andrews scored 15 points against the Celtics, lifting Seton Hall Prep into this weekend's High School Basketball Championship in Philadelphia.

Slick with the basketball, Andrews will push tempo when warranted, but he's also adroit enough to run the Pirates' flex attack in halfcourt sets. He's also a capable shooter who can knock down open looks from the perimeter.

With an 1150 SAT score, Andrews is an early Patriot and Ivy League priority. American University has offered, while Yale, Columbia, Lehigh, Holy Cross, Delaware and Monmouth are highly interested in the 150 pound point guard.

This past spring, Andrews played some with the New Jersey Panthers, but he said he plans on playing with Jimmy Salmon's Playaz Black program in July.

We plan on being in attendance at several events this summer where Andrews will play, so we'll keep you posted on his exploits.
