A New Jersey power forward apparently isn't taken back by the rash of hurricanes hitting South Florida.

With a year of prep school in the offing, Hashim Bailey, the 6-foot-9, 250 pound power forward/center from Passaic Tech in Passaic, New Jersey, will have some time to ponder his college destination, as a member of the class of 2006. That doesn't mean colleges aren't already in hot pursuit of the bulky but nimble big man.

"I'm being recruited by South Florida, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, Louisville, Georgia Tech, UConn, St. Bonaventure," said Bailey.

According to Hashim, South Florida, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Louisville, and St. Bonaventure have offered. One school pokes out among the rest.

"I like South Florida," said Bailey. "I'm going to take a visit to South Florida, Louisville, and St. John's."

Bailey has a big frame and plenty of size, as the dimensions would suggest. He is not a great athlete, nor does he have great foot speed, but possesses good footwork, capable of scoring around the hoop.

Bailey played this summer with Jimmy Salmon's Tim Thomas Playaz.

Hashim is unsure about his prep school destination for next fall, but he definitely has to put in a post-graduate year.
