He's only a junior, but Gerald Henderson is already the subject of a tug-of-war between of number of major programs. However, despite the early interest, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound athlete from Episcopal Academy (PA) will take his time, and probably won't put any serious thought into the issue until after his junior year.

"I think it's much too early for me to be narrowing things down," said Henderson. "I'll look to make a decision probably before my senior year, so then I can get it of the way and won't have to worry about it."

Henderson took a trip to North Carolina in August to tour the campuses of Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Wake Forest unofficially, to try and gain a better feel for these schools.

"I went down to North Carolina to get a sense for the schools that I'm interested in," said Henderson. "They're all good schools."

From the Big East, two programs are pursuing him the hardest. "Villanova and Notre Dame are showing interest," said Henderson.

Some players, attracting early interest, have chosen to expedite the recruiting process and make an early choice. However, Henderson still seems to be in the early stages of his recruitment, and will take his time. "I'm still open," he emphasized.

Gerald scored 34 points in Tim Thomas Playaz' Black win over Jamaica Youth Organization on Saturday at IS8, showing the dynamic athleticism that has made him a coveted prospect. Already possessing a good basketball body, Henderson is an explosive leaper who is quick off of his feet.
