As the game came into crunch time, it was Wayne Ellington stepping up again to lead Jimmy Salmon's team to a 105-97 victory. "It was tough," Ellington said. "We had the big lead, lost it, then came back."
Ellington hit seven consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter and then dropped in two key baskets to hold off JYO. "I had to bring the ball up against pressure," Ellington said. "I have been working on that all summer. I am confident I can do that."
Gerald Henderson also scored 34 points for the Playaz while Hofstra bound guard, Victor Morris, was also outstanding. Morris scored 30 points and hit for seven three-pointers. Morris made a verbal commitment to Hofstra during the ABCD camp last July in Teaneck, New Jersey.
