Bynum Talks About His Decision

Andrew Bynum has a very bright future. For now, he has made the University of Connecticut very happy

Andrew Bynum, a 7-foot center from St. Joe's from the state of New Jersey, made it official today. Bynum selected Connecticut over North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Georgia. He officially visited all four schools in his recruiting process.

"UConn was closer for me and my family," Bynum said. "I felt like I could connect with him (Coach Jim Calhoun). He was definitely easy to talk to. He actually declined guys (other prospects). I thought that was very good."

Bynum, who also said North Carolina had been waiting on Richard Hendrix, also said he liked Georgia Tech a lot. But Connecticut was the winner in this recruiting process.

"UConn showed me a little bit more love," Bynum said.

Andrew also stated he may take a look at the NBA Draft next June. "It is looking ahead and I am trying to win a State championship," Bynum said.

Andrew said if he got the impression he would be in the lottery, he would seriously consider taking a chance in the 2005 NBA draft. Bynum said he will sign a letter of intent with Connecticut in the November signing period.
