PrepNewMexico.com has learned that St. Pius X senior Isaac Leon has two offers on the table.
Both the University of San Diego and Western New Mexico University have offered Leon to play linebacker. USD is a FCS school ( D-IAA) and while it cannot offer athletic scholarships, they have let Leon know that he has a spot at the school and that he is their number one prospect at linebacker.
Western New Mexico is a D-II school located in southern New Mexico. Leon says he is "thankful and excited to receive both offers." However, these two schools are not the only ones still in the picture for the talented two way star. Kent State (D-I) stays in constant contact with Leon and have been pursuing him hard lately. Air Force(D-I) has been in close contact with Leon and his head coach San Juan Mendoza. Both schools seem very close to offering.
In addition NMSU and Wyoming have both been in and out of the picture since summer and are keeping a very close eye. During the summer Leon was also hearing regularly from Colorado, Holy Cross and New Mexico. According to Isaac every single school he has talked to, has "really liked" or "loved" his film.
Leon is a two way prospect with a great work ethic, great instincts and a team first attitude. He is surprisingly athletic and while he is a physical player, isn't overly built or stiff in space. At this point, I think teams are simply apprehensive to offer because Leon isn't 6'3 or because he doesn't run a 4.6 40. However, make no bones about it. Leon is a D-I player and don't be surprised to see him rake in a few more D-I offers in the coming months. His senior highlight film will soon be posted in the PrepNewMexico database.
