PrepNewMexico.com has learned that West Mesa's Matthew Jaramillo has earned an offer from the University of New Mexico as an athlete.
Currently the West Mesa star is committed to New Mexico State as a Tight End.
It is unclear what position Jaramillo would play if he were to switch to UNM. The 6-4, 245 senior quarterbacked his team to one of the better years in Mustang history and although he has a strong arm, it is my opinion that he projects best as a DE in college. Matt is a very big and very strong athlete with good athleticism. He very well could be the strongest player in the state of New Mexico. With more time in the weight room and some coaching Jaramillo could be a difference maker on defense and has room to be 6-4, 265. If defense isn't in the cards, his second best projection would be at TE and with his size and power could make for a great blocker and solid pass catcher.
