Video Spotlight: Shon Mitchell

Hobbs senior DB Shon Mitchell missed 4 games last season with a fractured wrist which is fully healed now. When watching his tape notice the kickoff return about 30 seconds into the video. You can really see his speed and ability to make people miss in the open field.

Shon Mitchell from Hobbs HS missed 4 games as a junior with a fractured wrist.  He is healed and primed to have a big senior season.  Even though he missed time as a junior he still had very good stats for a defensive back.  Mitchell accounted for 41 tackles, 1 sack, 4 pass break ups, 2 int's, 1 fumble recovery and 1 forced fumble, he also returned a kick 86 yards for a touchdown.  Those stats earned him honorable mention all district honors which one would have to think, if not for the wrist injury he might have had better honors than that.

When watching his film notice the kickoff return for a touchdown, it's about 30 seconds into the video.  You will see Mitchell's speed and his ability to make people miss in the open field.  You will also notice how he does a good job of going to get the ball as a defender, meaning when the ball is in the air he will get off the ground to make an attempt.

I think he could be a real sleeper prospect this season.
