Player Spotlight: Fredrick Trujillo

Highland HS had a very good 06. They return several key players and are looking to have an even better 07. We had a chance to chat with one of the DE's in Fredrick Trujillo, here's what he had to say.

Frederick Trujillo DE from Highland HS had a big junior season.  He was voted 1st team all district and also 2nd team all metro during the 06 season.  Trujillo has good speed coming off the edge and has a chance to be even better in 07. 

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What is your height, weight, 40 times, bench and squat?

Trujillo: I'm 6'0 and I weight 220 my best 40 time is 4.8 I bench 285 and I squat 350

 

PrepNewMexico.com: What honors did you receive this past season?

Trujillo:  I was voted 1st team all district and 2nd team all metro honorable mention all state

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What were your stats from last season?

Trujillo:  I had 7 sacks and I also had 70 tackles and 40 assisted tackles

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What was your best memory from this past season?

Trujillo:  My best memory is going undefeated in district and beating Rio Grande in the final game to win the district championship

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What are you doing to prepare for next season?

Trujillo:  We have practice during the week I'm lifting and doing footwork all the time I'm also working on my hands.

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What are your strengths as a football player?

Trujillo:  I do pretty good on keeping my outside containtment, I also am a good speed rusher.

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What are your weaknesses as a football player?

Trujillo:  Getting stronger and keeping my pad level down and staying lower all the time.

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What do you like most about the game of football?

Trujillo:  I really like the feeling of getting the sack, getting that tackle and also the feeling that you get from it.

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  Who is the best player you have ever played against?

Trujillo:  Probably Michael Love from Rio Rancho or Jerrod Metzger from Manzano during my sophomore year, they were both tough.

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What are your aspirations as far as playing football in college?

Trujillo:  I'm hoping to play football in college I've been to UCLA, UNM and also the camp at UTEP the coaches from UTEP and UNM have said they will be keeping in touch with me.  I don't have any offers but I'm hearing from a lot of Ivy league schools I currently have a 3.88 GPA

Trujillo:  Michael Rode LB, Tony McCoy RB, Jerrod Sanchez DT, Rolando Tremmell QB

 

PrepNewMexico.com:  What can we expect from your team next year?

Trujillo: I think we are coming back fresh we lose a lot of seniors but we return lots on our defense.  Our offense is going to be new but I think we can make the playoffs for sure.
