The 2nd part in our series comparing the top talent from the state of New Mexico compared to Arizona.  Part one of our series featured New Mexico's Landry Jones and Arizona's Sean Renfree.  Very interesting piece, Jones has already committed to Oklahoma while Renfree has given his commitment to Georgia Tech.  Now let's take a look at the RB position.  From New Mexico we have Ruben Martinez (6'1 200) and from Arizona we have Covaughn Deboskie (5'11 190).  As you can see both of these young men have great size and the both can really run.  Martinez checks in running in the 4.6 range while Deboskie has been clocked this summer at the LA combine at a blistering 4.38.  At this point Martinez has an early offer from New Mexico State and is still hearing from several other schools.  Deboskie has offers from all across the country from schools like Arizona State, California, Florida, Clemson, UCLA, Illinois and Nebraska just to name a few.

As a junior Martinez burst onto the scene rushing for over 1400 yards and 24 touchdowns, his size and speed ratio might be the best in New Mexico.  Martinez has run as fast as a 4.55 and is ready for a big senior season.  A few weeks ago Martinez had the opportunity to camp at New Mexico State, after that camp the coaches came away very impressed and they extended him an offer.  To date that is the only offer that Martinez has gotten but he is still hearing from other schools and with a big senior season might add a few more offers before it's all said and done.

For Deboskie, his junior season statistically wasn't as good as that of Martinez.  But it was a great season nonetheless.  Deboskie rushed for 1304 yards and 22 touchdowns, helping Hamilton HS win the class 5A state championship.  Deboskie was 1st team all conference and honorable mention all state.  He really made a name for himself this summer when he went out to the LA combine and blistered the track with an amazing 4.38 40 time.  After that time the offers started rolling in, Deboskie is currently a four star prospect and ranked as the #14 RB in the country.

So you be the judge of these two extremely talented young men.  One thing's for sure Martinez and Deboskie will be giving defensive coordinators nightmares this season.
