Cibola vs. Clovis
Possible game of the week, these
two teams have the talent to win the whole thing. Cibola has been impressive each and
every week while Clovis has already lost three games this
Cibola has been one of the top teams in
the state all season long.
Offensivley they have been great all season long scoring a very
impressive 230 total points in 6 games.
Every one knows their offense is led by one of the top signal callers in
Jonathan Mader. Mader is probably
the #2 ranked QB in the state behind Landry Jones and he has done nothing to
disappoint this season. Chase Bennison keeps teams honest with
his ability to run the football so teams can't drop extra men in coverage. The defense has been really good all
season just giving up 78 total points on the year. 21 of those points came in week one
against La Cueva. Indiana Jones leads the defense from
his LB spot and CB Aaron Scheutze continues to be one of the top CB's in the
Heading into the season we really
had a hard time deciding who to rank in the #2 spot behind the obvious #1 in
Mayfield. The two teams we
discussed were Cibola who we ended up going with and the other team was
Clovis. Why Clovis?
Why not, each and every year they have been steady and really
productive. They return a ton of
talent and great players all over the place. QB Jordan Mendoza might be the most
underrated QB in the state and RB Manuel
Robles can flat out run the ball.
CB Jaden Isler is one of the
states top juniors. With all that
talent it's hard to figure out why this team has lost three times already this
year. They lost to Mayfield, La
Cueva and last week to Goddard.
Their three wins have come against Eldorado, Palo Duro and Rio
Rancho. The one thing that's for
sure is this team has played a really hard schedule so far this season.
When looking at this game
Cibola has been great but is their schedule as
good as Clovis? Clovis has talent and
better not be looking ahead to their ESPN game next week at Artesia. Clovis
has the talent to win this one but we'll say that Cibola keeps winning and pulls this one out
