Jermaine Geter - Aztec

What makes a great secondary player? Talking with most coaches, the typical response you get is; someone who can run, someone who has great athleticism, someone who has great abilities to change directions and someone who isn't afraid to tackle. Corners and safeties are some of the hardest players to evaluate. So many times we see kids that can run and cover but maybe they are a little shy when it comes to contact. Other players will be a great hitter but heavy footed and won't cover all that well. Most of the time we see great high school players that are a little to stiff to be a corner at the next level.

Jermaine Geter WR/DB from Aztec is our selection as the top defensive back heading into the 2008 season. What Geter brings to the table is his size and ability to cover players. At 6'1 and nearly 175 pounds, Geter is a bigger secondary players that colleges are looking for today. He also runs well running in the 4.5 range, which for a guy his size is pretty good and should lead to schools coming in to take a look. Geter is also a standout in the Aztec high powered offense doubling as a wide out. Jermaine has all the physical tools that schools look for and appears to be one of a handful of players in the state of New Mexico with the ability to play at the next level.
