Introducing Andrez Brewster

Santa Teresa HS athlete Andrez Brewster is one of the top returning playmakers in New Mexico for the 2008 season. Today we bring you an interview with a potential all state selection.

Santa Teresa HS athlete Andrez Brewster was a dynamite playmaker last season.  On the year he had over 1100 total yards of offense and was also voted 1st team all district on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.  Most high school athletes that are voted 1st team are pretty good, if you're voted 1st team on both sides of the ball you are special athlete.  We had a chance to chat with Brewster to get his thoughts on the upcoming season.

What were your stats/honors from last year?
I was voted all district on both offense and defense, offensively I had 56 receptions and 796 yards receiving, also had 296 yards rushing on 20 carries 12 total touchdowns.

What is your official height and weight?
5'11 170

What is your greatest football memory?
Playing in the state playoffs

What are your goals for the upcoming season?
From a team standpoint to win district and make the playoffs, individually to gain more than 1500 yards total offense.

What are you doing to prepare for this season? Will you attend any camps this season?
Right now lifting and running to get ready for next season, I will be attending camps at New Mexico State and New Mexico.

What aspect of your game have you really worked hard on to improve?
Route running

Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for next year?
Our QB Tony Garcia and DE Tommy Urietes

Name one teammate that you respect the most and why?
Tony Garcia because he is a great leader on and off the field

What are your goals as far as playing football in college?
To be a great football player and hopefully get to the NFL

Who is currently recruiting you? Do you have any early offers to speak of?
I don't have any offers at this point but hearing a lot from New Mexico State.

Would you consider staying in state to play in college?

What schools would be your top 5 schools?
1. Georgia
2. Arizona State
3. Oregon
5. Cal

Who is the best player you ever played against and why?
Brandon Reed from Canutillo he played really hard

What other sports do you play?
I play basketball (20 points a game) and baseball.  I was voted all state in basketball.

What are your bench max lifts in the bench, squat, power clean, and 40 time?
Bench: 215 Squat: 325 Clean: 190 40: 4.4

How do you think your coach would describe you as a player?
A team player and a hard worker that gives his all on every play and never gives up

What is your strength as a football player?
My speed and my ability to read defenses, I'm also a very coach able player that works hard.

What is your weakness as a football player?
Sometimes I don't speak up when I feel I should

Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Kobe Bryant because he plays every play like it's his last and he always plays hard

What is the best piece of advice you have ever gotten? Who did you get it from?
My dad always says "Don't ever let anyone hinder me from what I like doing"

Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
My dad because he is always encouraging me to do the best I can no matter what happens
