Alamogordo RB Bobby Wride burst on the scene in 2007. He is hard at work for a big 2008 campaign. We caught up with Wride to get his thoughts on this season and the latest with recruiting. Remember our free 7 day trial offer.
The state of New Mexico will have several top notch RB's returning during this 2008 season. Shifty backs like James Hall from Las Cruces, speedsters like Raul Rodriguez out at Los Alamos, workhorse backs like Mike Hathcock at Aztec and bulldozers like Gus Bowe at La Cueva. With so many good back sometimes quality players that can pretty much do everything asked of them will go overlooked. One player that might fit that mold is Alamogordo RB Bobby Wride. Wride burst on the scene in 2007 having to replace all state selection C.J. Oakley, but Wride quickly made a name for himself. A few months back we introduced the state to Wride in one of our player spotlight pieces. Today we catch up to Bobby to get his plans for the summer and also how his Alamogordo teammates are looking.
"Things are going good right now. We have morning workouts from 7 to 9 in the morning. I haven't had any offers yet. I am still unsure of where exactly I want to go. I will probably want to stay in NM. I did get a call from a coach at UNM and he was wanting me to attend the UNM camp which I will be and also the NMSU camp. So it's going to be a pretty busy summer. Our team is looking pretty good right now. A lot of people are showing up to the workouts. We have very good coaches and I'm confident we will do well this season."
With great coaching and also a very good core group of returnees for Alamogordo, expect them to make a serious run at a district title and challenge for a playoff spot. We are hoping to get some film of Bobby in the near future; we will post that film as it become available.
