NM vs. AZ: Cody Blocker and Vinnie Spano

Today we compare two QB's from two different states. Cody Blocker from Del Norte and Vinnie Spano from Peoria (AZ). Take look for yourself, side by side and be the judge. Vote on the message boards.

One of the fun things about watching high school football from around the country is to try and compare the talent from around the country.  We thought it would be fun to compare athletes from two different states and see what the outcome is.  So over the next few days we will be comparing prospects from New Mexico and prospects from Arizona.  We have selected players from the same positions and tried to find players with the same height and weight.  Some of these players have major offers from Pac 10 level schools; while others are still waiting to hear a school call them up.  Again, we are doing this more as a gage to hopefully, better understand the recruiting process and to compare the talent level in the two states.

In today's event we take a look at a couple of signal callers.  From AZ we have Vinnie Spano from Peoria HS and from NM Cody Blocker from Del Norte HS.

Blocker is a dual threat type signal caller that keeps teams honest with his ability to run the football.  Blocker has good size at 6'1 180 and decent speed running in the 4.7 range.  Cody has been busy this summer hitting the camp circuits and putting his name and skills out there.  Blocker still doesn't have any offers as of yet but he continues to hear from several schools.  Here is a link to his video.

Vinnie Spano from perennial power Peoria HS has been a starter since his sophomore season, throwing for more than 2600 yards over the last two years.  While he isn't a pure "dual threat" in the mold of Blocker he can move and does a good job of throwing the ball on the run.  Spano checks in at 6'1 190 and has a good shot at being one of the top signal callers in AZ this season.  Spano has no offers yet but is hearing from a few schools.  Here is a link to his highlights.

There you have it, side by side two very good athletes.  You've seen the film, who's your pick?  This showdown will have a link on the message boards for you to vote.
