Midseason all state team
Every year we do this as kind of a checklist of guys that are having big seasons up to this point.
QB – Brycson King – Aztec
He has had a tremendous season up to this point, each week he has a huge game. The rest of the state needs to take notice because this kid is only a sophomore. Already thrown for more than 2000 yards and a crazy touchdown to interception ratio of 31 to 3.
RB – James Hall –
RB – Mike Hathcock – Aztec
Is there a more underrated player in
OL – Rio Mares –
OL – Cody Williams – Sandia
Williams is the main cog to the dominant Sandia line. Their emergence as a group has allowed their skill players like Marcus Washington room to run and make plays.
OL – Taylor Wickens – St. Pius X
One of the biggest players in the state at 6'3 285, he has always had a ton of potential but seems to finally have put it all together this year.
OL – Mike Long – Manzano
So much attention has been given to dynamic junior RB Jordan Llamas that they forget to mention the big boys up front that open up the holes he runs through. Long is one of those big boys up front. Squatty body type that is great in the run game.
OL – Shane Smith – Eldorado
The Eagles have been great this season and Smith is one of the best in the state. Dynamic athlete at 6'4 260 that also runs the hurdles for Eldorado.
TE – Patrick Jaquess –
WR – Todd Farnsworth – Kirtland Central
The Broncos have went to a wide open spread offense led by QB Jeff Belin. The person on the end of those passes has been Todd Farnsworth, he has put up impressive numbers so far this season.
WR – Derrick Williamson – Aztec
Williamson is one of the better pure athletes in
All Purpose – Troy Harris –
Harris had good junior year playing behind Marcus Williams, but has been great his senior year as the main ball carrier for the Rams. His combination of speed and quickness is second to none in this state.
