Game Preview: Clovis vs. Carlbad

Each year Clovis starts out kind of slow, but continues to improve each week. That's a sign of good coaching. The Wildcats will need to be on their toes this week when they take on Carlsbad.

Clovis vs. Carlsbad
This is a very interesting game, both teams are very good and are very well coached.  Clovis has the record that everyone talks about, but Carlsbad is always a tough team and a team that every coach has respect for.

Clovis has been one of the most consistent teams in the state this year.  Each week they just go about their business and figure out a way to win ball games.  There big three of RB Stefan Mills, LB Lane Ward and S Cerron Bailey are as good as any three in New Mexico.  Mills is a very good runner and a threat to have a big game each week.  Ward is on pace to record more than 170 tackles and Bailey is a super talented athlete in the secondary.  They always seem to get hot at the right time and improve each and every week of the season, that is attributed to good coaching and the staff at Clovis do as good a job as any staff around.

Carlsbad each year is looked at as a quality team that can knock off anyone, but never really a team that people pick to win the whole thing.  Carlsbad is the type of team that causes coaches to pull their hair out, the talent is there the toughness is always there, but for some reason the consistency isn't.  This is a good football team that is to be taken seriously.  If Clovis sleeps on this team the Caveman are more than ready to pull off the upset.

I'll take Clovis in a closer game than people think.  28-21
