Game Preview: Clovis vs. Hobbs

Clovis is always well coached and seems to get better as the season goes along. They take on a very good Hobbs team this week that is looking to pull off the upset.

Clovis vs. Hobbs
The Eagles have been playing great as of late.  They are talented but started slow and are now making a serious run to make the playoffs.  If they can beat Clovis that will go a long way in their cause, The Hobbs offense needs to have a big night.  While I don't see this turning into a shootout, the Hobbs offense needs to get first downs against Lane Ward, Cerron Bailey and the dynamic Clovis defense if they are going to pull off the upset.  The Wildcats defense has really shut down opponents this season and is playing better right now than at any other time this year.

The offense of Clovis is lead by Stefan Mills.  Mills has been a stud this year and they have really ridden his legs all season to their current record.  Clovis is a ground based team they run a scheme that wears on a defense and than once a defensive player makes a mistake Mills will take it to the house.

There are a group of fans in the state that feel the only other team besides Las Cruces, Mayfield and Eldorado that have a legit shot at winning a state title is Clovis.  That remains to be seen, but the Wildcats need to be clicking on all cylinders this week and not looking ahead to the playoffs.  If they get caught looking ahead Hobbs is talented enough to pull it off.  I think Clovis is the real deal, I'll take Clovis 34 Hobbs 14.
