Getting to know Jason Sandoval

Onate HS WR Jason Sandoval led the 5A division in receiving yards in 2008, which is very impressive considering he was just a junior. We had the chance to chat with Sandoval to get his thoughts on the season.

Onate HS came into the season young but very talented.  Next season they will feature several of the states most dangerous players at the skill positions.  One of those players is WR Jason Sandoval.  Sandoval is little in stature but big on the field.  Jason ended up being a legit home run threat and led the 5A division in receiving as a junior.  In addition, Sandoval also earned 1st team all district honors and honorable mention all state.  Here is what he had to say.

How did the season end up for you guys?
Didn't really go as expected. We fell short of the playoffs by losing a game that would make or break us.

What was your best memory from this past season?
I led the state in receiving yards in 5a

What honors did you receive at the end of the season?
1st team all district and honorable mention all state receiver

Give us three teammates that you think will be great high school players next season at your school.
Aaron Sandoval, Zach Daugherty, and John Cachora

What are your plans for the future?
I'm pretty confident we'll be contending for a state championship next.

What is the latest with recruiting?
Nothing much just a letter saying I was talented enough to play at the college level.

We are trying to get a DVD highlight of his junior season to post in the near future.  Sandoval will also be a name to keep an eye out for this baseball season as he is also one of the top players on the diamond.  As you can see, Jason Sandoval is a great all around athlete and will be one of New Mexico's finest in 2009.

Parents, players and coaches.  If you have a player we should interview or a highlight DVD of a player you would like for us to put up, email me and we can set it up.
