This past week, Onate DE/FB Zach Hernandez had the opportunity to attend camp at Brown University in Providence Rhode Island. The 6-0 215 pounder was impressed with his time with the Ivy League Champs, stating, "things went pretty well. It was a great opportunity to meet the staff and see the campus, which was pretty amazing if you ask me."
Regarding his performance at the camp Hernandez reports both good and bad, "the testing portion for me had highs and lows. My 40 and vertical could be better, but I did the most reps out of anyone in the 185 bench with 33." Hernandez was also somewhat disappointed because the Brown camp was non contact and as such he did not feel he was able to showcase some of the stronger aspects of his game.
New Mexico was very well represented at Brown as Eldorado quarterback Armin Day and Sandia linebacker Seth McVey joined Hernandez from New Mexico prep football. Hernandez spoke highly of his in state gridiron brethren, "I personally thought however that Armin Day really did well. He was very impressive as was Seth McVey."
Although Hernandez has yet to get an offer from Brown, he says he will stay in contact with Kyle Archer the coach that recruits in New Mexico for Brown.
