From time to time players from across New Mexico will check in with PrepNewMexico to give a snapshot of their season and team. One player in the midst of what should be a strong senior campaign is Sandia linebacker Seth McVey. The 6-1 220 pound backer had a busy offseason working the camp circuit and although no offers have yet to come from D1 schools, interest may be increasing.
Currently, McVey and his Sandia team are working a tough spot in the schedule. Last week the Matadors had a rough opener losing to Cibola 24-7. This week they face a talented Eldorado squad. Speaking of the rough start to the season McVey says, "It was a tough loss but I think we are regrouped and ready for Eldorado. Our team is looking good. We just need to get that varsity game experience on the o and d lines and we are just as good as anyone I believe."
In regard to his recruiting status McVey reports he is getting e-mails from Texas Tech, Tulsa, Baylor and Kansas. All the schools would like to take a look at McVey's early games this season. Along with these schools, McVey reports Dartmouth is showing more and more interest.
If Sandia can pick up that first win of the season and McVey plays well, his D1 recruiting interest will raise and the elusive first offer may come.
