Breaking down the Land of Enchantment's top football prospects

1 )Matt Hegarty 6'5, 270 Sr.(Aztec) OT/DE- If the 20+ offers weren't enough to convince you how good Hegarty is, then take a look at his game film. This young man is a top 5 OT prospect in the country and has every physical tool coaches want in a prospect. He also is an ideal citizen and a very bright young man. Matt should dominate both sides of the ball this year, and that is why he gets the nod at #1.

2) Ronnie Daniels 6'2, 205 Sr. (La Cueva) RB- It's very hard to believe that Mr. Daniels isn't being courted by more of colleges big time programs. 6'2, 205 kids who run 4.5 40's don't come along very often……no matter where you live. Regardless, New Mexico hasn't had a skill player take games over like Daniels since Chris Williams was touting the rock. Everyone knows about Ronnie and no one seems to be able to stop him.

3) Matt Ramondo 6'4, 280 Sr. (Mayfield) DT- Far and away the state's best DL. Ramondo plays with a mean streak and displays very good technique for a young player. His future could be on either side of the ball in college, but look for him to dominate both sides of the ball this upcoming season.

4) Dustin Walton 6'4, 220 Sr. (Raton) QB- The state's best QB comes in at #4. Most years he could make a serious argument for that top spot. Walton is incredibly polished, has good talent and makes great decisions. Not very many high school QB's display the poise that Dustin does. Add a 6'4 frame, a strong arm, great accuracy and a system tailor-made to put up numbers…..YIKES!

5) Isaac Leon 6'0, 210 Sr.(St. Pius) LB/FB- Most people have seen the bone crushing hits Leon makes, but what many people don't know is that Leon might be an even better FB. Kinda scary to think about, but Leon's size, power and under-appreciated quickness make him really hard to defend. We expect Leon not only scare ball carriers but scare defenders this year as well.
