Dante Thompson, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward from St. John The Baptist High School in West Islip, New York (Long Island) is a player to watch over the next several months, as he tries to generate more division one interest in his skill level.

The coaching staff at SJB has been raving about the upside to the 16-year-old's individual basketball game, making a comparision to University of Pittsburgh player J.J. Moore. J.J. comes from Long Island and worked very hard to make himself into a high division one basketball player.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:

Head coach Jim Plate has spoken very highly of what he expects of the senior prospect, comparing him to some of the better players who have recently played on Long Island.

"He is the most athletic kid we have had at St. John the Baptist," said Plate. "Dante transferred to us as a junior from Florida with only one year playing experience."

"He works extremely hard and soaks in everything he is taught," added Plate. "When he first got here I gave him a tape of our game with Brentwood and JJ Moore and told him this is who you could be like. He is getting close."

DESCRIPTION OF DANTE THOMPSON'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

Dante runs the floor with speed and purpose. He shoote the deep ball effectively too. "He has been working very hard on his handle with Coach Kevin Foley," said Plate. "This young man has a tremendous upside."
