The coaching staff at St. John The Baptist has raved about the individual skill level of Thompson, who has ability to play the small forward position.
Head coach Jim Plate has spoken very highly of what he expects of the senior prospect, comparing him to some of the better players who have recently played on Long Island.
"He is the most athletic kid we have had at St. John the Baptist," said Plate. "Dante transferred to us as a junior from the state of with only one year playing experience.
"So he has a tremendous upside to his game. He's working hard and learning very quickly. He soaks in everything he is taught. When he first got here I gave him a tape of our game with Brentwood and JJ Moore (now at the University of Pittsburgh -- Big East Conference) and told him this is who you could be like. He is getting close."
DESCRIPTION OF DANTE THOMPSON'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:
Dante runs the floor with speed and purpose. He shoote the deep ball effectively too. "He has been working very hard on his handle with Coach Kevin Foley," said Plate. "This young man has a tremendous upside."
