New Jersey Underclassman Has D-1 Looks

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a free look at the individual game and recruiting process of New Jersey based underclass Ryan McCoy, who has several division one offers on the table right now ...

Ryan McCoy, a foot-6, 180-pound junior forward prospect from Montgomery High School in New Jersey, is a prospect you watch very carefully due to his skill set.

The underclassman has several division one offers on the table. Currently, he's shown interest in New Hampshire, Wagner, Manhattan, Dartmouth, and Colorado State.

DESCRIPTION OF RYAN MCCOY'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

He possesses a nice skill set, able to knock down the perimeter shot. As he adds more weight and muscle to his frame, he'll be a more consistent offensive threat.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:

Ryan took an unofficial visit to Manhattan College, according to his AAU coach, Matt Pauls of Team NJABC.

Pauls said McCoy praised the visit to Manhattan and was showing a great deal of interest in the school and the basketball program. "He had a great time on the visit," said Pauls. "He loved it."

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT RYAN'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

McCoy has shown the ability to dent a zone and drain long range jumpers. His footspeed has improved and he is getting stronger.

We've watched Ryan compete a few times over the past year. He's impressed us due to effectiveness from shooting the ball in the corners to gaining more strength, giving himself a better chance to score near the rim.

AREAS TO IMPROVE:

Most of the areas to make progress in are in the physical department. As his body matures and he adds weight and muscle, Ryan will compete more effectively in the paint.
