Area Big Man Finishes Up Fall With MVP

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a Fall League update on the play of former New Jersey based big man and division one bound Markus Kennedy, who claimed a Most Valuable Player award recently ...

Markus Kennedy, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound center prospect who hails from the Garden State of New Jersey, finished up the fall in style, landing a Most Valuable Player award in the Mustafa Shakur Chosen League.

His team, Shakur, claimed a victory over Jrue Holiday in an event held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Last April, published a story that Kennedy was returning home to Philadelphia to play college basketball for Villanova in the Big East Conference.

Kennedy, previously 2010 prospect who also had transferred from St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey, made progress in his individual game over the past year, showing more consistency.

We saw Kennedy play more extensively when he competed for Matt Pauls' Team NJABC AAU program a summer ago down at the Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida on the grounds of Disney World. He showed the ability to produce points in bunches when near the rim.
