Dante Thompson, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward prospect from St. John The Baptist High School in West Islip, New York (Long Island) is hoping to big season this year to help generate some division one interest in his individual game, according to head coach Jim Plate..

Plate has been very excited about this upcoming season and the possibilities in how Thompson can help his basketball club win some games in the Long Island Catholic League.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:

Head coach Jim Plate has spoken very highly of what he expects of the senior prospect, comparing him to some of the better players who have recently played on Long Island.

"He is the most athletic kid we have had at St. John the Baptist," said Plate. "Dante transferred to us as a junior from the state of with only one year playing experience.

"So he has a tremendous upside to his game. He's working hard and learning very quickly.He soaks in everything he is taught. When he first got here I gave him a tape of our game with Brentwood and JJ Moore (now at the University of Pittsburgh -- Big East Conference) and told him this is who you could be like. He is getting close."

DESCRIPTION OF DANTE THOMPSON'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

Dante can beat his defenders down the court with his quickness and hard work. He shoots the long range jumper effectively. The areas he's been focusing on has been defense and his ballhandling. If he shows some consistency from the wing slot with his size on the offensive side of the ball, he will generate division one interest in his skill level.
