Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a look at the individual game of a big man who hails from overseas but plays high school basketball at Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York ...

Daouda Soumaoro, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound power forward/center from Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York, is hoping to have a great season and land some more division one college interest in his skill level.

He's been working out hard, according to the coaching staff of the Pioneer's boy's basketball program.

Daouda comes from Mali, Africa and possesses the necessary physical attributes to be a division one college big man in the future.

WHERE WE SAW OF HIM DURING AAU EVENTS:

We previously watched him July while covering the Super Showcase at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. He played with Jim Hart's highly regarded Albany City Rocks AAU boy's basketball program. "He has a great deal of upside," said Hart. "I like the way he fights on the glass too."

DESCRIPTION OF SOUMAORO'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

He has the ability to rebound on both ends of the court and defend with purpose. We previously watched him compete with Jim Hart's Albany City Rocks AAU program during the July evaluation period down in Disney World.

According to OSNA assistant coach Eric Jaklitsch, the talented prospect came to the United States in November of last year. Since he has arrived on our shores, Soumaoro has gained 30 pounds.

ERIC JAKLITSCH ON THE BIG MAN'S GAME:

He averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks per game during the school year. He does several things well on the court. He can rebound, block a shot, score near the basket and has a nice touch from the outside. He's spending his off time increasing his physical skills as well as working on the pure skills.
