Area Prospect Preparing For Next Level

Reporter Mike Sullivan takes a look at the individual game and future of division one prospect Khalid Lewis, a scoring guard from the Garden State of New Jersey ...

Khalid Lewis, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard from Trenton Catholic Academy in Hamilton, New Jersey (previously McCorristin Catholic H.S.), has been working hard to prepare himself to play division one college basketball next season.

Recently, Lewis was one of several high school players nominated in his state for the McDonald's All American game.

Khalid will compete for division one college basketball program Delaware starting for the 2011-2012 season.

SCOUTING REPORT:

Khalid is an exciting player to watch. He's able to produce points from anywhere on the court. Over the past year and especially during this past summer, he's made strides in the categories of defense and ballhandling.

He has the skill level to be an impact player for Delaware over a four-year period. He has the skill level and grit to plow to the basket and score.

Khalid shows the ability to produce points from many points on the floor. He has the ability to take the ball to the rim and score consistently as well as drop down jumpers.

PREVIOUS RECRUITING INTEREST:

Drexel, Richmond, Virginia Tech, St. Joe's, Temple, Fairfield, Rider, Siena, and Marist.

TEAM NJABC HEAD COACH MATT PAULS' THOUGHTS ON KHALID'S INDIVIDUAL BASKETBALL GAME:

His perimeter game continues to improve. He has a great first step and can destroy the interior of a defense with his drives to the rim.
