Curtain Falls For Great Holy Cross Senior

Reporter Mike Sullivan takes a look at the career and many successes of senior guard/forward Evan Conti of Holy Cross High School in Flushing, New York ...

Evan Conti's season ended sooner than he had hoped for after having such a great individual season for his Holy Cross High School boy's basketball team. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound small forward/shooting guard saw his high school career come to a close last night at St. John's University in a semifinal Catholic League loss.

Evan had a great year for Paul Gilvary's highly regarded basketball program. He averaged over 18 points a game and hauled down almost 10 rebounds per contest.

Evan told us he had recruiting interest from Marist, LIU, UMBC, Tulane, Hartford, Kent State, New Hampshire, Fairfield, Holy Cross College, and St. Francis of Pennsylvania.

DESCRIPTION OF EVAN CONTI'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

He is a leader, a senior who is counted on at both ends of the court to make the key plays. He makes subtle contributions too, boxing out his man, finding open teammates for easier shots.

Evan surpassed the 1,000 point mark this season and nearly 600 rebounds for his career.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:

An injury last season hurt Conti's chances of drawing more recruiting interest early in his recruiting process. "I had a lot more interest last year but I was out for three months in the AAU season with a broken ankle and a lot of those schools stopped recruiting me."

Evan plays AAU basketball for the Rising Stars under head coach Danny Gimple.
