NYC Senior Keeping Busy Before Campus Visits

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a free look at the regular season successes and recruiting situation of Holy Cross senior wingman Eric Conti, who had a tremendous season for Paul Gilvary's basketball program ...

Evan Conti, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound small forward/shooting guard from Holy Cross High School in Flushing, New York, will keep busy over the next month as he tries to set up some campus visits.

Conti, who scored over 18 points a game and hauled down nearly 10 rebounds per contest in the 2010-2011 season, has to make a decision soon who he will play for in the IS8 Spring League.

"I'm also playing in the CYP tourney in Port Chester with team Frenji," said Conti. "This team is the most stacked team I've ever been on."

Conti previously told us that head coach Chuck Martin of Marist was expecting to visit the school this week to talk to him and his head coach.

In addition, McNeese State from Louisiana called Conti and expressed recruiting interest.

PREVIOUS RECRUITING INTEREST:

Conti told us that he had interest from LIU, UMBC, Tulane, Hartford, Kent State, New Hampshire, Fairfield, Holy Cross College, and St. Francis of Pennsylvania.

DESCRIPTION OF EVAN CONTI'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

He is a leader, a senior who is counted on at both ends of the court to make the key plays. He makes subtle contributions too, boxing out his man, finding open teammates for easier shots.

Evan surpassed the 1,000 point mark this season and nearly 600 rebounds for his career after having a great senior year for Holy Cross.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:

An injury last season hurt Conti's chances of drawing more recruiting interest early in his recruiting process. "I had a lot more interest last year but I was out for three months in the AAU season with a broken ankle and a lot of those schools stopped recruiting me."

Evan plays AAU basketball for the Rising Stars under head coach Danny Gimple.
