NYC Senior Prospect Has Solid Season

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a look at the individual game and regular season successes of Cardozo senior prospect Shelton Mickell, who produced a very nice year for head coach Ron Naclerio ...

Shelton Mickell, a 6-foot-1, 167-pound shooting guard/combo senior guard prospect from Benjamin Cardozo High School in Bayside, N.Y., had a terrific season for head coach Ron Naclerio and his Judges' boy's basketball program.

Naclerio recently told reporter Brian Towey: "He is still figuring things out. College of Charleston is interested. Marist is coming in and they're going to offer. St. Francis of Loretto (Pennsylvania) may offer."

MICKELL'S SEASON RECAP:

Towey: "Mickell shoots it consistently, plays with poise, and can be counted on to make shots in key situations. He averaged 13.4 points and 4.3 assists this season for Cardozo, which advanced to the PSAL Class AA semifinals and finished with a 28-3 record."

NATIONAL EXPERT TOM KONCHALSKI DISCUSSES MICKELL'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

Towey: "Naclerio said that highly-respected scout Tom Konchalski, who is based in Queens, New York, spoke glowingly of Mickell in his latest report.

"Konchalski said that he's really improved," said Naclerio. "He said that he's physically tougher and that he can do one thing that few players in New York City can do: he can shoot it."
