East Coast Senior Ready For Next Level

Reporter Mike Sullivan takes a look at an East Coast senior forward prospect who will be playing some division one college basketball starting this fall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ...

Jerrell Wright, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound power forward/center from Dobbins High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, recently played in the Mary Kline Memorial All star game held at the Pennington School in New Jersey.

Wright scored 16 points in the game. "Jerrell reminded me a little of Tobias Harris," said talent expert Alex Kline.

"The big bodied 6-foot-8 forward heading to La Salle not only dominated inside but he shot the ball very nicely from outside. He had a fair amount of turnovers as his handle and ball control is still not there, but he looked like he could play both forward positions next year."

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: Jerrell is a player Team Phenom coach Paul Gripper feels will make a fine division one college basketball player. After concluding a summer of fine play, Wright was especially impressive competing for the Mustafa Shakur team in the NIKE Chosen League 19 and under league. He produced 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to league his team to a victory over Jrue Holiday, 54-49, in the title game.

Jerrell started off his IS8 spring league season with some terrific games, including scoring 38 points against the Playaz Club of New Jersey.

Jerrell previously had offers also from Drexel and Temple. He also had received interest from West Virginia, Siena, and Massachusetts.

As a junior, he averaged close to 22 points a game, 14 rebounds and three blocks and matched those this season.
