Final Look: OSNA Big Man Prospect

Reporter Mike Sullivan takes a final look at the individual game and future of Long Island based big man Daouda Soumaoro ...

Daouda Soumaoro, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound power forward/center from Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York, will be starting summer school soon at Texas Tech.

Soumaoro signed with Texas Tech in May after making a commitment. His recruiting really picked up over the spring with several high division one programs getting involved.

Soumaoro, who comes from Mali, Africa, averaged nearly 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks per contest as a senior for Our Savior New American during the 2010-2011 regular season.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON DAOUDA'S PROGRESS AT OUR SAVIOR NEW AMERICAN:

Daouda made the adjustment to game of basketball here very well and it was helped along tremendously by OSNA assistant coach and New York Elite AAU program head coach Eric Jaklitsch, who has guided the young man along.

DESCRIPTION OF SOUMAORO'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

He has the ability to rebound on both ends of the court and defend with purpose. We previously watched him compete with Jim Hart's Albany City Rocks AAU program during the July evaluation period down in Disney World.

According to OSNA assistant coach Eric Jaklitsch, the talented prospect came to the United States in November of last year. Since he has arrived on our shores, Soumaoro has gained 30 pounds.

OSNA ASSISTANT COACH ERIC JAKLITSCH ON THE BIG MAN'S GAME:

Daouda does several things well, using his long arms to get rebounds and block shots.
