NJ Underclassman Worth Watching This Season

Reporter Mike Sullivan provides a detailed look at the individual game and future of talented underclassman Cameron Heywood, who is expected to be one of the best guards in the tri-state area ...

Cameron Heywood, a 5-foot-4 backcourt prospect from the tri=state New York City area, is likely to be a player to watch over the next couple of years.

Heywood had a solid summer, making progress in his individual game and on both sides of the ball. He's worked very hard to give coaches the confidence to watch him seriously over the next several months.

PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:

According to his dad, Cameron will play basketball this upcoming season for one of the best high school hoops programs in the area. "Cameron will play at Paramus Catholic High School," said Mr. Heywood. Cameron is from Spring Valley, New York.

Cameron is a member of the 2015 class so he has ample time to make even more progress in his individual basketball game..

LOOKING AT CAMERON'S INDIVIDUAL GAME:

Heywood has the ability to play both backcourt positions effectively. He has solid three point range on his jumper and a terrific floor game.

Obviously, the areas to work on down the road will be physical since he is so young. But he is worth watching over the next couple of years as he begins to establish his individual game in the New York/New Jersey areas not only on the high school level but also in AAU competition and in the IS8 spring and fall leagues.
