"NC State came in (recently)," said Davis. "I talked to UConn on the phone, and they pretty much offered. Villanova, St. John's, Florida (are all interested). Syracuse I talked to on the phone; I'm supposed to meet with them. Pittsburgh, Seton Hall (are interested). Everybody I've said has offered, except Syracuse. I didn't meet with them yet."
Davis has begun to set up his trips, including a pair of officials that should take place in the near future.
"I'm planning on visiting Pittsburgh and NC State so far," said Davis. "Those are official visits. I'll probably visit NC State in the next two or three weeks. I'm definitely going to visit Pittsburgh. I just need to set up a date. I'm going to take an unofficial visit to Villanova."
At this point, Larry does not have a leader in his recruitment. Nor is he pressing to get the process over with quickly.
"It could be early (for a decision), or it could be late," said Davis. "It really doesn't matter. I'm thinking I'll have a decision by before school starts."
Davis is the first option for Team Odom, coached by Christ the King assistant Artie Cox. The team recently participated in both Charlie Weber Tournaments in Washington, D.C. Currently, they're playing in the IS8 League in Queens. Later in the month, they'll be at Bob Gibbons' Tournament of Champions in North Carolina. Looking toward the summer, Team Odom will make trips to Las Vegas and California. Davis told us previously that he plans on attending the ABCD Camp.
Davis is a smooth combo with a reliable stroke and good court sense. He sees the floor well and is a strong passer from the wing. Larry more than keeps defenders honest shooting off the catch. Davis's effectiveness is predicated more on feel than it is explosiveness. He has good instincts. Larry's got to continue to add strength for college play.
Davis began to emerge during his sophomore year under coach Bob Oliva at Christ the King, and slid into a more prominent role this year as a junior, on a team with a number of Division I prospects. Next year he'll be the focal point for Oliva and the Royals.
Larry also excels in the classroom. He shouldn't have any problems meeting the NCAA's eligibility requirements.
