Qualified NJ PG Taking Prep Season

Terrance Grier was best known for his scoring acumen at Cranford H.S. in New Jersey, but the strongly built 5-foot-11, 200 pound guard knows that the point slot will be his future at the Division I level.

Terrance Grier will be prepping this winter at the St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn., a program guided by legendary coach Jere Quinn. During Quinn's tenure, the Chancellors have featured some excellent guards, like former North Carolina stalwart Ed Cota.

"I've been listening to everyone and watching tapes of Jason Kidd play," Grier said. "I need to work on my handle and my decision making, because I know that won't be able to score at the next level like I did at Cranford."

Grier will enroll as a postgrad at St. Thomas More, because he has already fully qualified academically and graduated from Cranford.

"I am hoping that Coach Quinn will get me where I need to be," he said. "Whatever it takes."

At Eastern last week, Grier was selected to play in the Top 20 All-Star game. He scored five points but his White team dropped a 97-95 decision to the Blue team.

Grier said he's picked up scholarship offers from George Mason, St. Bonaventure and Rhode Island thus far. A slew of others, including St. John's, Auburn, Duquesne, Rutgers, Seton Hall, South Florida, UNLV, Texas El Paso and Providence have shown interest.

"I think the summer went well and that I played well here at Eastern," Grier said. "I showed I was just more than a scoring guard."
