Pikiell & Company Land Another Quality Recruit

New head coach Steve Pikiell and his assistants have landed another quality recruit in the 2006 class ...

Former George Washington assistant coach Steve Pikiell had terrific credientials when he first took over the head coaching position at Stony Brook University on Long Island. So it's no surprise to the many that follow college basketball recruiting that Pikiell and his talented assistants continue to build a solid 2006 class.

It was only a few weeks ago that Stony Brook landed workhorse Rio Pitt, who was very impressive for the New York Elite during the summer AAU play.

Last night, Pikiell and his assistants were able to convince Chris Martin, a 6-1 combo guard who played at Christ The King High School in Middle Village, New York. Martin will prep this season at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Maine, where he'll play for Coach Ed Jones.

Martin is a well-built lefty who has played many minutes at the lead guard position. It's likely Stony Brook will utilize Martin at that particular position.

In Brian Towey's last report on Chris, Martin had generated some late interest from schools like UMass and Rhode Island.

Martin is well-schooled having played for one of the country's top coaches on the high school level in Bob Olivia.

So Pikiell and company are off to a great start in the 2006 class. We will keep you posted on Stony Brook as well as the other schools in the New York/New Jersey area here on the Insiders Report.
