Programs such as Winthrop, Marist and Southern Illinois have contacted sources close to Steijn, but in the back of his head, there's still loyalty to the Hoosier program.
"The deal was that I would go here for a year and go back to IU, but I am not sure if they'll take me back," Steijn said. "So I'd like to keep my options open."
Of course, a lot depends on what kind of year Steijn has at Logan and how Mike Davis fares at Indiana. It's no secret that Davis will need to have a successful year in Bloomington if he is to retain the reins in 2006-2007.
Steijn cited his strong relationship with IU Asst. Coach Kerry Rupp as a key factor in his signing with the Hoosiers a year and a half ago. One source familiar with the situation said that Rupp (be it at IU or elsewhere) could play a vital role in Steijn's next move from Logan.
Steijn admits that he'll be keeping a close eye on how the Hoosiers fare this year.
"I think they will have a great year," he said. "They need to get over the Bobby Knight thing and throw their support behind Coach Davis."
