St. John's Recruit Calhoun Working Hard

There still some work to be done for a St. John's recruit ...

Qa'rraan Calhoun, a 6-foot-7, 215-pound power/small forward from Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, Maine, still has some work to do academically before he is eligible to play next season in the Big East Conference, according to his head coach, Whit Lesure.

Calhoun, who helped Bridgton secure the NEPSAC Class A championship with a victory over The Winchendon School of Massachusetts last month, scored 20 points in the victory. "He's working hard," Lesure said. "He is confident he will get it done."

Calhoun played a year ago at Raritan High School in Hazlet, New Jersey. He is an athletic forward who has polished his game at Bridgton.

Calhoun will be counted on to help St. John's along the front line. He is an excellent athlete with jumping ability. Calhoun is also terrific in transition and can finish the break with slams and jams.
