Vernon Teel Won't Rule Out Any Option

Scout.com reporter Mike Sullivan of the High School New York/New Jersey website has the latest information regarding the recruiting status of New York City guard Vernon Teel. Sullivan spoke to New York Panthers' program director Gary Charles ...

The banging you might hear today could be from New York Panthers program director Gary Charles' head clanging against a wall. Charles has spent countless hours in trying to help guard Vernon Teel solidify a college scholarship offer.

"Ah, some more time is needed," said Charles. "Vernon has some options right now."

The options being either attending a JUCO or perhaps choosing a school. For the past few weeks, South Alabama appeared to be a school likely to land Teel, a 6-foot-2 guard who previously played at Jamaica High School in New York.

"LIU and St. Francis (New York) should be added too," said Charles when asked about Teel's list of schools.

Charles is trying to work through a transcript and determine where Vernon stands academically. Obviously, how this comes out is important to determine the eligibility of Teel, who played this past season for Laurinburg Prep in North Carolina.

"Hopefully something can be done soon," Charles said.
