The Silent Assassin Has A Big Fan

Scout.com East Coast recruiting expert Mike Sullivan profiles a player from the New York City area who has the ability to change a game with his deadly outside shooting. This particular player has a big fan too ...

Deadly. It's the way that New York Panthers' program director Gary Charles describes the individual game of Holy Cross shooting guard Sylven Landesberg. "I call him the Silent Assassin," Charles said. "He goes about his job and kills you with his perimeter game."

Landesberg has gained a reputation as one of the better shooters in the 2008 class. Charles has seen many great players as first the coach and now the director of the Panthers AAU program. He considers Sylven as one of his best shooters from the perimeter.

"He is not only a good shooter," Charles said. "He really knows the game of basketball. He sees the floor well. He won't force the issue."

At Holy Cross in Flushing, New York, Landesberg is expected to play a big role in its 2006-2007 CHSAA season. It's a very competitive league every year in the New York City Catholic League. So Landesberg's skills will be tested against some steep competition.

Sylven will play at IS8 also but with his High School team. Many high division one programs recognize his value as a potential player on their rosters. Landesberg already has much of the Big East and ACC schools recruiting him hard.

Connecticut, St. John's, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Florida, Kentucky, and Florida State are the schools Landesberg has previously mentioned.

"He's fun to watch," Charles said. "I like his court awareness. He knows how to play the game."
