Hart: St. John's Got A Mature Player

Scout.com's East Coast recruiting expert Mike Sullivan had a chance to interview Albany City Rocks' program director Jim Hart about a player that recently committed to St. John's University ...

Albany City Rocks program director Jim Hart has been a big supporter of Dele Coker, a 6-foot-10 center from South Kent in Connecticut. Coker spent some summer time with Hart's Albany City Rocks AAU program.

"He got better as the summer went along," Hart said. "He improved alot and got more confident in his game as he played in Las Vegas and at the Nationals."

In a story reported by Jeff Goodman yesterday, Coker made a verbal commitment to St. John's University, a school that made an early and serious run at Dele.

"From what Dele told me he was impressed with the fact that all the coaches at St. John's recruited him," Hart said. "There was a real connection between Dele and the coaching staff at St. John's."

Coker, who is one of the better big men in the class of 2007, weighs around 250 pounds. "He's very humble and very mature," Hart said. "St. John's got a polished player too. He really got confident in his game over the last couple of weeks during the summer."

Dele, who also competed with the Albany City Rocks at the Rumble in the Bronx tournament last June, possesses agility and nimble feet.

"He's going to be a very good player for St. John's," Hart said. "He's also a good kid and he is playing at a very good high school too with good coaches. He's only going to get better playing another year at South Kent too."
