St. Dom's Guard Chooses A School's Brian Towey has the story about a player from St. Dominic's choosing a school ...

T.J. Carey, the 6-foot-2 shooting guard/combo guard from St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, New York, has made a verbal commitment to Harvard, according to his coach at St. Dom's, Rob Pavinelli.

Carey also considered Princeton and Yale, among others.

To sum up Carey's M.O.: he plays the game the way it should be played. He is a player with an extremely high basketball IQ, a strong knowledge of the game, and a passion for the sport. He is a guy who has continued to grow his game since arriving as a heralded freshman at St. Dom's.

"What's special about him is that he's not just a basketball player," said Pavinelli. "He will be someone who, in the future, will make a difference in whatever career he pursues."

Carey is a player who impressed college coaches with his decision-making at both ends of the floor. He will be one of the senior leaders on a St. Dominic team that should be one of the best clubs in the New York metro area.

The native of Levittown played with Joe Walsh's Long Island Lightning team on the AAU circuit. He missed the live period during July with an injury.

T.J. is a person who "gets it" both on and off the floor.
