Naclerio Expecting Big Year Out Of Junior

Scout.com's East Coast recruiting expert Mike Sullivan believes Ron Naclerio needs a big year out of his junior swingman ...

The size of 2008 prospect James Southerland is very attractive for division one coaches. Southerland, who goes about 6-foot-6, can shoot the ball like a guard and cause mismatches along the perimeter.

Southerland needs to have a big year to keep Cardozo head coach Ron Naclerio happy. Naclerio is expecting a big year out of the junior.

"He can be one of the better players in the country," Naclerio said recently. "He just has to be more consistent and get a little stronger."

Naclerio is usually positive anyway when discussing his players. But Southerland proved during the summer that he is one of the better players to keep an eye on this winter when he competes for Cardozo. James is currently playing for the Shooting Stars in the Fall IS8 League.

So far the division one schools like what they see. Obviously, Southerland's recruiting will likely take a more serious turn this winter since he is two years removed from signing a letter of intent.

But St. John's, Rutgers, Boston College, Seton Hall, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Florida, Connecticut, Louisville, and Pittsburgh have been mentioned by Naclerio and Southerland as being schools of interest.

This site will continue to monitor the progress of Southerland during the next few months.
