Manzano Sparkles In IS8 Playoff Victory's East Coast recruiting expert Mike Sullivan had a chance to watch Thomas Manzano again showcase his skills at IS8 ...

IS8 is a place where you leave your name at the door but bring your game. It's a description so detailed on the back of every player's uniform when they compete in the country's top Fall League.

Thomas Manzano though always seems to thrive and make sure his name is recognized when he plays inside the tiny gym in Jamaica, New York. His play again yesterday demonstrated that he someday will be a solid college basketball player.

Now reclassified to a junior and playing at Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts, Manzano made a trip close to home and play for Starrett City in the IS8 playoffs. He didn't disappoint.

Manzano scored 23 points and helped his team defeat Boys & Girls, 90-81, in a very competitive first-round playoff game.

Starrett City led 20-18 after the first eight minutes of play and 42-39 at the half. The lead increased to 65-58 heading into the fourth. Boys & Girls made several runs at Starrett City but was unable to hold on to any advantage.

Marvin Roberts had a great first half for the winners, scoring 16 of his 23 points in the first 16 minutes of play.

Zamal Nixon was terrific for Boys & Girls. He had 18 points. Wayne Allison had 13 points, Kendall Cutler added 10 and Cyril Reid also had 10 points for Boys & Girls.
