Rashon Dwight Makes A Decision

Scout.com reporters Mike Sullivan and Brian Towey have the latest on Rashon Dwight's decision ...

Rashon Dwight wanted to go to a program with a rich winning tradition. Today, Dwight said he made a verbal commitment to Jeff Ruland's Iona College basketball program.

"I like the fact that they have won a lot in their history," Dwight said. "Their coach was a big part of their winning tradition too. I like the school too and the coaches."

Rashon also considered Rider College. "It was a tough choice," said the 6-foot-3 Bloomfield Tech versatile athlete. "But I felt after thinking about it and talking it over with my family that Iona was the best place for me."

Dwight said he hopes to be utilized at several positions. "I can play the one, two or three," he said. "But Iona has spoken to me about playing the point guard position."

Rashon said he has one goal in mind when he plays basketball whether it is with his AAU team or his high school team: "I just want to do whatever I can to help my team win. It's all I want to do."

Next season, he receives an opportunity to help Ruland's program out in the "W" column.
