A Good Place For A Talented New Jersey Guard

Scout.com's East Coast recruiting expert Mike Sullivan explains that Rashon Dwight made a terrific decision ...

Too many instances occur when high school players overestimate their chances of significant playing time as a freshman when they choose a school. But that isn't a problem with Rashon Dwight.

Dwight, who made a commitment to Jeff Ruland's Iona College basketball program, is an extremely versatile athlete who has one goal in mind. "I just want to do anything I can to help my team win," he said.

Rashon consistently displayed these aspects of his game while competing in the Fall IS8 League in South Jamaica, Queens. Dwight would handle the ball under pressure, break a sideline trap, feed an open teammate, grab a rebound or score a big basket.

Rashon also considered Rider College. But the 6-foot-3 Bloomfield Tech star thinks he can play several positions at Iona -- including the lead guard slot, shooting guard position or the small forward area.

While he may not dazzle some, there's a lot of substance to the game of Dwight. He is steady under pressure and appears to have a high basketball IQ.
