St. Mary's Features Some Quality Talent

Scout.com's East Coast recruiting expert Mike Sullivan says St. Mary's should have another solid team this season ...

St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York built a pretty darn good reputation as a basketball powerhouse when Tim Cluess was the head coach of the Gaels. Today, the tradition continues.

Under head coach Rob Jones, St. Mary's features some top underclassmen talent. This website had previously updated you on a couple of players, including shooting guard Byron Freeman, 6-foot-2.

Freeman possesses nice range on his jumper. But his best days are ahead of him. Freeman is just a junior and a member of the 2008 class.

Freeman had posted some eye-opening games at IS8 in South Jamaica, N.Y., during the Fall League.

It's early in the recruiting process for Freeman. But he has received some early interest. This season will determine whether the interest is real or just preliminary contact.

"He has some interest from Indiana, St. John's, Yale, North Carolina State, Memphis, Holy Cross, and Army," Jones said.
