A look at the individual game of Michael Sands, who will play in the Ivy League next season ...

PROFILE: Mike Sands

HIGH SCHOOL: H. Frank Carey High School in Franklin Square, N.Y.

SCHOOL OF CHOICE: Yale University (located in the state of Connecticut)

SANDS' BIG BREAK: Competing at the Eastern Invitational at the College of New Jersey last July. Sands proved at this event he was very capable of competing on the division one level.

AAU TEAM: LONG ISLAND LIGHTNING -- Sands also made solid contributions while playing in AAU events for this terrific AAU program. The Lightning play a very competitive schedule and travel quite a bit to play against the best teams from across the country.

BRIAN TOWEY'S REVIEW: Sands, a rising senior, is a four-man who likes to play facing the rim. Sands can knock down the mid and long-range jumper and take bigger players off the dribble. He runs the floor well, has a strong basketball body, and does a nice job of attacking the rim, with the body control to convert close to the goal.

CONCLUSION: Michael is being counted on this season to deliver an even bigger senior season for Carey. As a junior last year, Sands averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds. As he matures and adds some muscle to his frame, Michael should be an impact player for Yale.
